After 2 years of hiatus due to the pandemic, the networking event “Leadership supports the importance of the corporate sector in promoting inclusion, equality & diversity in Vietnam” was organized on 28th February 2022 at Ho Chi Minh City. With the cooperation of VCPN, KPMG, ICS Center, Consulate General of Australia, United States, British, AVYLD & WINK Hotels to share the best practice of corporates in promoting inclusion, equity & diversity in Vietnam.
The event is inspired by three leaders from diverse organizations who are Mr. Rad Kivette from VinaCapital Foundation, Dr. Lyndal Hugi from Orlar & Mr. Huynh Le Khanh from ForGood Vietnam. Leaders shared their experiences and the benefits they have received from working for an inclusive workplace that celebrates and promotes gender diversity. The panel discussion is moderated by Soline Linh Le (RMIT – Broward University Lecturer, Gender Activist Leader for Gender Equality Across Industries, Women Empowerment Club, HCMC).

Research has shown many benefits of a diverse and inclusive workplace:
- Higher revenue growth
- Greater readiness to innovate
- Increased ability to recruit a diverse talent pool
- 5.4 times higher employee retention
Inclusion in the workplace is one of the most important keys to retention.
The research on the company culture of Great Place To Work in the United States shows that when employees trust that they, and their colleagues, will be treated fairly regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or age, they are:
- 9.8 times more likely to look forward to going to work.
- 6.3 times more likely to have pride in their work.
- 5.4 times more likely to want to stay a long time at their company.
Having an inclusive workplace culture will not only help you attract a diverse set of talents but also help you retain the diverse talent you attracted in the first place.
ICS Center is an organization that has made a massive contribution to enhancing awareness of society about LGBTIQ+ people. Ms. Ngo Le Phuong Linh, ICS Center Director, shared that ICS Center understands the approach of diversity and inclusion (D&I) in bringing positive and sustainable changes not only to sexual and gender minorities but also to other majorities who are adversely impacted by social bias. Besides cooperating with founding partners to establish Vietnam Corporate Pride Network (VCPN), ICS Center has been promoting consulting and training for partner companies who need to have a better understanding of how to accomplish their mission, vision, and policy within the culture of Vietnam.
KPMG is leading in promoting inclusion, equity, and diversity in the workplace. D&I Policy has been launched and maintained in Vietnam and globally since 2015. KPMG has been bringing not only unexpected benefits but also creating a safe LGBTIQ+ community within the Global KPMG Network which will support people regardless of their gender, nationality, and background.
Based on the report of HRC (2018), 89% of Fortune 500 companies have D&I Policy and 60% of them own customized D&I and/or have a person in charge of D&I (Diversity Best Practices, 2017).
Therefore, the support of experts and corporates in this field is playing an important role for Vietnam to go along with the development of other countries because respect for gender diversity is standard, essential, and integral to development.
